Lifecycle
This species has pelvic spurs, these are vestiges of the hind legs; males use them during copulation. They are viviparous, the juveniles are born alive and are independent shortly after birth. They usually reproduce during the dry season, generally during the months of April to August, the gestation lasts from five to eight months depending on the temperatures, the size of the litter is approximately 25 young, but they can have up to 64. They are long-lived snakes, living up to 30 years in the wild or 40 years in captivity.
